The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has approved a partnership with the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) to promote transparency and accountability in the procurement process. This development came after the Director-General of BPP, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, paid a courtesy visit to the minister in Abuja.
Idris commended Adedokun for reducing the procurement process time to 20 working days, describing it as innovative. He expressed his support for BPP's strategy to use procurement to reduce poverty in the country, emphasizing the importance of transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the procurement process.
The minister assured that the Ministry of Information and National Orientation will collaborate with BPP to propagate their new strategies and innovations through various media platforms, including the News Agency of Nigeria, Nigerian Television Authority, and Voice of Nigeria.
Adedokun stated that BPP aims to deliver timely and completed projects in various sectors, promote good governance, and ensure value for money, fairness, and accountability. He also announced plans to migrate to electronic procurement, complete all procurement processes within the first half of the year, and deploy categorization and classification of consultants, contractors, and service providers.
