ARGUNGU INTERNATIONAL FISHING + CULTURAL FESTIVAL

 The Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival is one of the most popular festivals in Africa that takes place in Argungu town, Kebbi State of Nigeria. The annual festival started initially as a religious festival prior to the time of Surame Gungu of Kebbi Kingdom. Presently, it is a four-day event that draws more than 30.000 fisherman and villagers to participate in a fishing competition. The fishing contest takes place in the waters of the river Mata Fada, using nets and traditional gourds made with calabashes to catch fish.
