Understanding Ododo’s Reset Agenda in Kogi State

By Adakoriko Adaviriku Adumaza

Kogi State has emerged as a top entrepreneurial destination in Nigeria, thanks to the visionary leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. The state's ranking ahead of major economic hubs like Lagos, Kano, and Rivers in three of the last four years is a testament to the governor's reset agenda, which focuses on creating an enabling environment for economic growth.

At the heart of Kogi's economic renaissance are two key factors: a commitment to security and the governor's aggressive yet humane leadership. His proactive stance in ensuring the state is open for business has attracted numerous investors and created a conducive environment for critical sectors to thrive.

The state's reset agenda is being further strengthened by initiatives such as: Establishment of Key Agencies, such as the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Kogi State Mineral Resources Development Agency, and the Kogi State Commodity Exchange are just a few examples; Infrastructure Development auch as the construction of over 400 kilometers of roads, the upgrade of the Zariagi airstrip to an international airport, and the establishment of a world-class industrial park are all underway; Human Capital Development such as the implementation of a new minimum wage, the enrollment of nearly half a million civil servants and vulnerable groups in formal sector benefits, and the provision of free health insurance coverage are all prioritized.

Kogi State's commitment to environmental sustainability is also evident in its ongoing land reclamation efforts and the Agroclimatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) initiative, which has empowered over 800 farmers and cooperative groups.

With its supportive environment, innovative spirit, and focus on human capital development, Kogi State is poised to become the economic powerhouse of North-Central Nigeria. Whether you're a startup founder, tech entrepreneur, or investor, Kogi welcomes you with open arms.
