NEPC trains over 8,000 women entrepreneurs on digitalisation by Adakoriko Adaviriku Adumaza


The Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has empowered over 8,000 women entrepreneurs through training and support in areas like digitalization, packaging, and labeling since 2019. This initiative aims to boost trade and enhance their export readiness and competitiveness.


At the Hershowcase Event in Abuja, NEPC's Director-General, Nonye Ayeni, highlighted the council's efforts to facilitate business networking, market connections, and product exhibitions for women-led businesses. The council has also provided certifications to enable these businesses to access different markets.


Some notable programs and initiatives include: 

Capacity Building Programs, Focusing on export procedures, market strategy, packaging, labeling, branding, digitalization, and e-commerce.

Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) Project, Supporting women entrepreneurs in developing and least-developed countries to adopt digital technologies and expand their online presence.

ITC SheTrades Initiative, Providing women entrepreneurs with access to key knowledge, resources, and networks, as well as supporting policymakers on inclusive policy reforms.


The NEPC has also collaborated with the International Trade Centre (ITC) to establish the SheTrades Nigeria Hub, which has registered over 5,000 Nigerian women since 2018.
