The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) are joining forces to tackle the recurring issue of tanker crashes in Cross River State. This partnership aims to enhance road safety, prevent accidents, and safeguard lives and property.

According to Mr. Joseph Toby, Sector Commander of FRSC, Cross River Command, the collaboration will explore opportunities to enforce safety standards at depots and on roads. This includes a meeting between desk officers of the safe-to-load program and NMDPRA representatives at tank farms.

NMDPRA's Field Coordinator, Mr. Ibiye Tuboalabo, emphasized the importance of strengthening the existing synergy between the two organizations. He assured the Sector Commander of his full support and cooperation in traffic safety operations, particularly those involving petroleum tankers.

The NMDPRA is the regulatory body overseeing midstream and downstream petroleum activities in Nigeria, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and sustainability in the sector ¹. By partnering with the FRSC, they aim to create a safer environment for road users and prevent tanker crashes in Cross River State.
